More appropriately a single, large hill, the neighborhood of Ascott Hills looks over Ouray to the north, I-70 to the south, and the Colorado River to the west. The area is considerably run-down in comparison to the rest of the city, as the lingering remnants of dirty industry and dusty mines or quarries are mostly contained to this corner of the city-at-large. Government housing provides residences for many full-time and seasonal laborers, and any individual businesses are usually limited to dives and bars of ill-repute.
